NETHERLANDS-US-AKZO-SCHERING
(FILES) A file photo taken 28 May 2002 shows contraceptive pills manufactured by the pharmaceutical company Organon in Oss. The Dutch-Swedish pharmaceutical group Akzo Nobel said 12 March 2007 that it had agreed to sell its Organon BioSciences drugs unit to US rival Schering-Plough for 11 billion euros (14.4 billion dollars). The cash offer by Schering-Plough was significantly higher than analysts had expected and shares in Akzo Nobel soared more than 16 percent on the Amsterdam stock exchange.
