FINLAND-VOTE
Finnish President Tarja Halonen (L) and her husband Pentti Arajarvi (R) leave a polling station in Helsinki after casting their vote in parliamentary elections 18 March 2007. Finns went to the polls today in legislative elections that were expected to return Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen to power thanks to his strong economic record. Halonen, a Social Democrat and former foreign minister, was elected by direct popular vote for a six-year term in 2000 and re-elected in 2006.
