Marc Dutroux went on trial today eight years after his arrest for the abduction, rape and murder of several girls in a series of horrific crimes that convulsed Belgium and shocked the world. Dutroux is standing trial alongside his wife Michelle Martin (back 2ndR in dock), 44, his "right-hand man" Michel Lelievre (back 2ndL in dock), 32, and a fourth suspect, Michel Nihoul (back L in dock), who all face charges of kidnapping and complicity in the crimes.
