SOLOMONS-US-QUAKE-AID
This US Navy handout photo received 17 April 2007 shows Lt. Cmdr. Karlwin Matthews as he provides medical assistance 16 April 2007 to a child in Titiana, Solomon Islands. Matthews is an individual augmentee, from Balboa Naval Hospital, embarked on Military Sealift Command (MSC) roll-on/roll-off ship USNS Stockham (T-AK 3017). The ship is assisting the Solomon Islands with humanitarian assistance operations led by the US Department of State and non-governmental organizations. On 02 April, an 8.1 magnitude earthquake and resulting tsunami struck the Solomon Islands causing casualties and significant damage.
