IRAQ-CHINA-MEDIA-STUDENTS-ARNETT-PEOPLE
TO GO WITH China-media-students-Arnett-people,sched-FEATURE by John Weaver
This handout recently received from former CNN reporter Peter Arnett shows him shaking hands with former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein in January, 1991 after interviewing him in Baghdad for CNN during the first Gulf War. For Arnett, who won America's highest journalistic prize in 1966 for reports from Vietnam for the Associated Press, teaching journalism in China - known as much for its human rights abuses as it is as host of the 2008 Olympics - is simply another assignment in a long career. Arnett is currently teaching journalism for four months at China's Shantou University as a visiting lecturer. RESTRICTED TO EDITORIAL USE AFP PHOTO/HO
