BRITAIN-NIRELAND-POLITICS
British Prime Minister Tony Blair leaves Stormont Parliament Buildings in Belfast in Northern Ireland, 08 May 2007. Britain and Ireland hailed a "new dawn" for Northern Ireland on Tuesday, as former Protestant and Catholic arch-foes were sworn in to restore self-rule in the long-troubled province. Veteran Protestant leader Ian Paisley said there was a chance for "lasting peace" as he became First Minister in a power-sharing government, with former Catholic militant Martin McGuinness of Sinn Fein as his deputy.
