SPAIN-BASQUE-POLICTICS-PARTY-ANV
Action Nationalist Basque party (ANV) President and General Secretary, Kepa Bereziartua (L) and Antxon Gomez speak during local election campaigning in the northern Spanish Basque city of Bilbao, 10 May 2007. On Sunday Spain's supreme court banned ANV from taking part in local elections due to their proximity to the banned separatist Basque group Batasuna. The court had already banned hundreds of candidates on supposedly apolitical "citizen lists" under the label Abertzale Socialistak on the grounds that it was a front for Batasuna.
