NEPAL-HISTORY-RELIGION-MURAL

This undated hand out photograph shows a panel from the Indian-influenced Newari art found on a mural in a newly discovered cave, estimated between the late 13th and 14th century, in northern Mustang. A team of explorers, academics and scholars have discovered an ancient cave in northern Nepal that contains a spectacular Buddhist mural unseen for centuries, a team member said. The team was led to the newly discovered cave by a local sheep herder who decades before had sheltered in the cave's opening during a rainstorm in the visually stunning but harsh Mustang region along Nepal's border with Chinese-controlled Tibet.
