FRANCE-POLITICS-CHIRAC
This grab taken 15 May 2007 from French news TV channel TF1 shows outgoing President Jacques Chirac, at the Elysee presidential palace in Paris, as he bids farewell to the people of France during the tapping of his TV address to the nation the day before to hand over the presidency to his successor Nicolas Sarkozy. The 74-year-old conservative leader, who has been at the centre of French politics for nearly half a century, will vacate the presidential Elysee palace on Wednesday. He has been president for the last 12 years, before which he served twice as prime minister and 18 years as mayor of Paris. AFP PHOTO TF1
