(RtoL) UniCredito Italiano CEO, Alessandro Profumo, Capitalia chairman Cesare Geronzi and Dieter Rampl, chairman of Germany's second-biggest bank HypoVereinsbank (HVB), shake hands after the boards of Italy's Unicredit and Capitalia banks gave the green light to a merger to create the largest bank in the euro zone by market capitalisation, 20 May 2007 in Rome. The new bank, which will have a market value of around 100 billion euros (135 billion dollars), will keep the name of the larger partner, Unicredit, its leadership, headed by Alessandro Profumo as chief executive.
