Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) chief Sir Ken Macdonald (R), director of public prosecutions, and CPS counter-terrorism head Susan Hemming make a statement in London, 22 May 2007, on the case of former Russian agent Alexander Litvinenko, whose mysterious radiation poisoning killing strained ties between London and Moscow. British prosecutors announced murder charges against Andrei Lugovoi, a Russian businessman and a former agent in the Soviet KGB spying service, over the radiation poisoning of Litvinenko.
