SWITZERLAND-AVIATION-ADVENTURE-ENERGY-SOLAR-SOLAR IMPULSE
Swiss scientist-adventurer and pilot Bertrand Piccard, the first man to ever achieve a non-stop balloon flight around the world looks during a press presentation of the planned round-world, solar-powered plane 22 May 2007 in Geneva. The plane will try to retrace in aviation history including Charles Linberg's first ever transatlantic crossing before its planned round-the-world flight in 2011. The "Solar Impulse" project led by Bertrand Piccard this week carried out real-time computer simulations of a circumnavigation, a year before the prototype is due to take to the air.
