FILES-FRANCE-CANADA-US-COMPANY-METALS-TAKEOVER-ALCOA-ALCAN
FILES - Picture taken 08 May 2007 of the facade of the Alcan's headquarters in Paris. Alcan rejected 22 May 2007 a hostile 33-billion-dollar bid from US rival Alcoa as it was under value according to Alcan boss Yves Fortier.
Alcoa announced the take over bid 07 May 2007 for its Canadian rival, saying the acquisition would create the world's biggest aluminum company and a brighter future for both. Alcan acquired French aluminum maker Pechiney in late 2004, creating at the time the biggest packaging and the second-biggest aluminum group in the world, behind Alcoa. AFP PHOTO JOEL SAGET
