ECUADOR-OIL-YASUNI-ACOSTA
Ecuador's Energy minister Alberto Acosta, speaks during a press conference at the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences in Quito, on May 23rd, 2007. Acosta said the country would accept a compensation by the international community for not developing the oil fields at the Yasuni National Park in the Ecuadorean Amazon region, 300 km east of Quito. The Yasnui, a UNESCO 950.000 hectare biosphere reserve, has the Ishpingo-Tiputini-Tambococha (ITT): the country's largest untapped oil fields, which contain a proven one billion barrels of oil equivalent.
