TO GO WITH SNOOKER-IRAN-PAK-WOMEN-FEATURE
In this picture taken 11 June 2007, shows Iranian snooker referee Tahere Eslami reads out scores at the Asian Snooker Championship hall in Karachi. Draped in traditional Muslim headscarves, Eslami and Maryam Bahreman stand alert as they referee at the men's Asian snooker championship in Pakistan. The duo, the first female referees to stand in Asian snooker, say their achievement proves that post-revolutionary Iran does not discriminate against women. Iran still imposes strict dress codes on women, who are obliged to cover all bodily contours and their heads. Iranian police recently launched a nationwide crackdown on inappropriate dress.
