US-CUBA-CITIZENSHIP-AGING
Jose “El Niño” Temprana, 105, holds a US flag while being sworn in as a US citizen 29 June 2007 in Miami, Florida. Born in Cuba on 26 September 1901, Temprana worked with his sons as a sponge diver and lobster fisherman in a small fishing village in the Pinar del Rio Province. During the Cuban Revolution he and three of his sons opposed Fidel Castro and were imprisoned in 1964 for 30 years. Following his sentence, he moved to Miami and has relished his freedom for the past 12 years. AFP PHOTO / ROBERT SULLIVAN
