Tiny Bahrain had a taste of Asian Cup success in 2004 when they unexpectedly made the semi-finals and they are aiming to pick up where they left off in their opener against Indonesia, 03 July 2007. The Gulf state, spearheaded by A'ala Hubail, dubbed the "Shevchenko of Asia," only just squeaked through the qualifying rounds to make their second Asian Cup since 1988 by beating Kuwait 2-1 in their final match.
