Actresses (L to R) Daphne van Tongeren (Netherlands), Ioana Christescu (Romania), Birgit Wieger (Germany) and Miyoko Urayama (Japan) carry a block of ice during a rehearsal of their play "Eismitte" (The Middle of the Ice), in a refrigerated cold-storage depot in the northern port city of Cuxhaven 11 March 2004. The theater troupe plans to subject its audiences to arctic temperatures to heighten the drama of a play about German polar explorer Alfred Wegener who succumbed to the cold in Greenland 70 years ago.
