BRAZIL-AIR CRASH
Firefighters try to extinguish the fire in a building demolished and set ablaze by a TAM airlines aircraft that chashed while landing at Congonhas airport in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The plane with 170 people on board crashed into a gas station and started a fire after skidding off a wet runway, local media reported Tuesday. The airplane landed from Porto Alegre, to the south, skidded off the runway, which was wet from rain, and slammed into a gas station outside the airport perimeter, witnesses said. The airport was immediately closed to air traffic and flights are being diverted to other airports serving the Sao Paulo area, local media said.
