BRAZIL-AIR CRASH
Firefighters open out their ladders around the buildings set on fire by a TAM airlines A320 aircraft that crashed 17 July, 2007 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The plane with 170 people on board crashed into a gas station and started a fire after skidding off a wet runway, local media reported Tuesday. The airplane landed from Porto Alegre, to the south, skidded off the runway, which was wet from rain, and slammed into a gas station outside the airport perimeter, witnesses said. The airport was immediately closed to air traffic and flights are being diverted to other airports serving the Sao Paulo area, local media said. There was no word yet on potential casualties whasoever, said TV Globo. AFP PHOTO/Daniel KFOURI
