SOLOMONS-AUSTRALIA-NZEALAND-PACIFIC-DIPLOMACY
(FILES) This file photo taken 26 April 2006 shows Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare (R), speaking to his supporters in Honiara. An Australian-led mission restoring stability to the troubled Solomon Islands is again under threat amid renewed strains in the relationship between Canberra and Honiara who have been at loggerheads since last year over the appointment by Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare of Australian citizen Julian Moti as attorney-general of the troubled South Pacific nation. Moti is wanted by Australian police over alleged child sex offences in Vanuatu in 1997. Last week's long-delayed swearing in of Moti into his new job has revived the long-simmering dispute between the two countries. Australian Prime Minister John Howard described the swearing in as "very provocative". AFP PHOTO/FILES/William WEST
