SWIMMING-INDIA-LONG DISTANCE
Sixteen year old Indian swimmer Sufyan Mohsin Shaikh trains at The Gujarat Vidhyapith swimming pool in Ahmedabad, 25 July 2007. Sufyan has swum the English Channel and also taken part in long distance swims in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, trains for some five kilometers a day under the guidance of coach Kamlesh Nanavati and hopes to make the Straits of Gibraltar his next long distance crossing. Sufyan,currently a student at St. Xaviers Loyola in the western Indian city, is also hopeful of qualification for the Beijing Olympics in 2008 where he hopes to compete in the new category of long distance swimming.
