(FILES) This file photo taken 21 August 1997 shows Pope John Paul-II (R) praying with French cardinal Lustiger on the first day of the Holy Father's visit to Paris during a ceremony attended by an estimated 500.000 pilgrims. Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger, the retired archbishop of Paris, died in Paris, 05 August 2007, aged 80, the government said. Lustiger was a storied and respected figure in France, having been born a Jew but converting during the Nazi occupation of World War II, and being instrumental in communicating on Catholicism as he rose through the Church's ranks.
