Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger, the retired archbishop of Paris, died in Paris, 05 August 2007, aged 80, the government said. Lustiger was a storied and respected figure in France, having been born a Jew but converting during the Nazi occupation of World War II, and being instrumental in communicating on Catholicism as he rose through the Church's ranks.
