ITALY-FEATURE-FLOWER-TITAN-ARUM
An employee waters 17 August 2007 a titan arum or "Amorphophallus Titanum", a flowering plant with the largest unbranched inflorescence in the world hatched a few days ago at the Botanic Garden of Florence. The "fragrance" of the inflorescence resembles rotting meat, attracting carrion-eating beetles and Flesh Flies (family Sarcophagidae) that pollinate it. AFP PHOTO / DAMIEN MEYER
