TO GO WITH 'PAKISTAN-SASIA-QUAKE-EDUCATION-WOMEN”'
In this picture taken 16 August 2007, Pakistani Kashmiri woman Sajila Begum (R) stands beside a five-room school made of sheets of corrugated iron, in a mountains area of Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistani administered Kashmir. Begum, a 50-year-old survivor of the devastating earthquake that hit Pakistani Kashmir in 2005 killing 74,000 people, says the word "impossible" is not in her vocabulary. Since losing her son in the quake that reduced most of her hometown to rubble, Begum has dedicated her life to bringing education to as many of the children in her impoverished neighbourhood as possible. "My aim in life is that my school is upgraded to 10th grade and I want all my projects to continue to serve humanity, even when I am no longer here" she said. AFP PHOTO/Aamir QURESHI
