Pope Benedict XVI receives a gift form a child on the steps of the Loreto Shrine 02 September 2007 in Loreto. Pope Benedict XVI celebrated a giant mass Sunday at Loreto in front of some 500,000 youths, telling them to eschew pride and consumerism and take care of the environment. The pontiff flew into Loreto in central Italy by helicopter yesterday to attend the pilgrimage over the weekend that was a warm-up for a much-bigger World Youth Day to take place in Australia next year.
