AFGHANISTAN-ANNIVERSARY-MASSOUD
Afghans sit on a destroyed Russian tank near the tomb of former Afghan leader Ahmed Shah Massoud during a memorial marking his 6th death anniversary in Panjshir valley, some 100 kilometers north of Kabul, 10 September 2007. Ahmed Shah Massoud, a Kabul University engineering student turned military leader, played a leading role in driving the Soviet army out of Afghanistan earning him the nickname "Lion of Panjshir". In September 2001 Massoud was assassinated by al-Qaeda agents and the following year he was named "National Hero" by the order of Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai. AFP PHOTO/MASSOUD Hossaini
