CHILE-COUP-ANNIVERSARY-ALLENDE
Members of the Communist party pay tribute to late Chilean president Salvador Allende, in the surroundings of the presidential palace La Moneda, on September 11th, 2007, on the 34th anniversary of the coup that overthrowed him from power and saw general Augusto Pinochet become a dictator. Allende refused to surrender to Pinochet and took his life during the bombing of La Moneda in 1973, in what was the beginning of a 17-year dictatorship that left around -between the dead and missing- some 3000 victims.
