CORRECTION-YEMAN-VOLCANO
This Canadian National Defence image received 01 October 2007 shows lava flows and clouds of smoke and ash as they reach skyward after a volcano eruption on the island of Jazirt Atta-Ir in the Red Sea 70 nautical miles off the coast of Yemen 30 September 2007. This photo was taken from the deck of the Canadian frigate HMCS Toronto, who, along with several other NATO warships passing through the Red Sea, are assisting in the search effort at the Yemeni Island. HMCS Toronto is currently conducting a search and rescue operation, at the request of the Yemen coast guard, to locate nine people believed to be at sea after a volcanic eruption occurred on Sunday on the island of Jazirt Atta-Ir, about 140 kilometers from Yemen in the Red Sea. At least four Yemeni soldiers were burned to death when a volcano erupted on the Red Sea island, sparking a major rescue operation on Monday for the rest of its garrison.Survivors evacuated to the Yemeni port city of Hodeida said the soldiers were killed outright when the volcano erupted on island of Jabal al-Tair, some 150 kilometres (90 miles) away.
