Photo taken 11 October, 2007 shows a refuse dump under Eko bridge in Lagos. Lagos bridges, some of which were built in the 70s are in a state of advanced deterioration. Except in a few cases, nearly all the bridges were found with defects. The noted problems ranged from damaged expansion joints, exposed reinforcements, burnt parapet, damaged railings and settlements at bridge approaches. AFP PHOTO / PIUS UTOMI EKPEI
