Artisans and homeless Lagos residents make a living in shanties erected under Eko bridge 11 October, 2007 in Lagos. Lagos bridges, some of which were built in the 70s are in a state of advanced deterioration. Except in a few cases, nearly all the bridges were found with defects. The noted problems ranged from damaged expansion joints, exposed reinforcements, burnt parapet, damaged railings and settlements at bridge approaches.
