PHILIPPINES-US-ENVIRONMENT-MARINE

In this handout photo made available in Manila 16 October 2007, by University of Alaska shows deep sea jelly fish found and photographed by a US-Philippines underwater expedition in the Celebes Sea Southern Philippines. The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and National Geographic Society-led survey trawled up to five kilometres (three miles) below the surface in an area that has been isolated over geological time by rising sea levels and may have spawned species not found elsewhere. The survey was held in the first half of October at the center of the so-called Coral Triangle, bodies of water bounded by the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia that contain the world's richest biodiversity in shallow water marine species.
