MACEDONIA-MUSIC-PROESKI-DEATH
People light candles on the central square in Skopje, 16 October 2007, in memory of Macedonian and Balkan pop star Toshe Proeski, who was killed in a car crash early this morning in Croatia. Macedonian pop star Tose Proeski, one of the most popular singers in the Balkans, died in a car crash in Croatia on Tuesday, national radio reported. The accident occurred on a highway near the eastern town of Nova Gradiska when the car in which Proeski was travelling collided with a truck. Proeski, who was 26 and represented his country at the Eurovision song contest in 2004, was popular throughout the former Yugoslavia.
