Poland's Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski delivers a speech during an election campaign meeting in Zabrze, 18 October 2007. Poland's popular ex-prime minister Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz has quit the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party, the political machine of the ruling conservative Kaczynski twins, it was revealed 18 October. Marcinkiewicz's decision was made public as his successor and PiS mastermind, Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski, braced for parliamentary elections on Sunday in the face of knife-edge opinion poll ratings.
