SRI LANKA-UNREST-SECURITY
Sri Lankan police Special Task Force commandos conduct an emergency search operation in the capital Colombo, 02 November 2007, as security was stepped up. The leader of the Tamil Tiger rebels' political wing, S. P. Thamilselvan, (40), was killed 02 November together with five others in a Sri Lanka Airforce bombing in the rebel held north, the guerrillas said. "Head of our organisation's political division, Brigadier S. P. Thamilselvan, was killed by the Sri Lankan Air Force aerial bombing," the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) said in a statement.
