GERMANY-IRAQ-TURKEY-KURDS-DEMONSTRATION
Demonstrators carry a flag with the portrait of Kurdish rebel leader Abdullah Oecalan as they walk through the streets of Cologne 03 November 2007 to protest against the policy of Turkey. Germany's foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has called on Turkey to withdraw a threat to launch a military attack on Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq. Steinmeier also warned of the impact of the tensions on Germany where there is a large Turkish and Kurdish community. Germany had witnessed the fallout last Sunday (28 October 2007) in Berlin, where 14 people were arrested and 18 police were injured in clashes between Turks and Kurds on the sidelines of a demonstration in support of the Turkish government.
