French writer Gilles Leroy speaks to the press, 05 November 2007 in Paris after Leroy received the 2007 French literature prize Prix Goncourt. France's most prestigious literary award, the Prix Goncourt, was awarded to Gilles Leroy for "Alabama Song", a fictional autobiography of F. Scott Fitzgerald's wife Zelda. Leroy, 48 retraced the wild parties of the "roaring" 1920s in the United States, Zelda Fitzgerald's volcanic relationship with her novelist-husband, and her decades-long battle with mental illness.
