several thousand demonstrators march to support Belgium's unity in central Brussels, 18 November 2007. Several thousand people demonstrated 18 November in Brussels in favour of Belgian unity as a political crisis threatened to tear the country apart into its Dutch and French-speaking communities. Belgium has been a record five months without a government since elections last June with no prospect of a way out of the impasse as both linguistic communities appear as entrenched as ever in their positions.
