Namibia's liberation hero and former president Sam Nujoma is pictured 27 November 2007 in Windhoek, Namibia's capital, after reiterating his decision to step down as leader of the ruling Swapo party and hand over the leadership to President Hifikepunye Pohamba. Nujoma has been at the helm of the South West Peoples' Organisation (Swapo) since its inception in 1960, and this party congress, held once every five years, marked the first time a new party president would be voted in.
