MEXICO-CALDERON-ANNIVERSARY
The Mexican president, Felipe Calderon (L), visits the 43rd region of the Mexican Army on January 3rd 2007 in Apatzingan, Michoacan, Mexico, alongside the Secretary of Defense, Grl. Guillermo Galvan. In his first year in office Calderon moved military and police operative towards fighting drug traffic that saw success and later veered his Foreign Policy attention towards Latin America, with special interest in Cuba and Venezuela. In his first big move almost one year ago, Calderon began his offensive fight against organized crime after proving that the growing influence of drug traffic and uncontrolable insecurity would make governing a difficult task.
