BELGIUM-POLITICS-CRISIS-LETERME
Formator Yves Leterme leaves Belvedere Royal Castle in Laken/Laeken, after a meeting with King Albert II of Belgium, 01 December 2007. Leterme handed in his resignation to the king, after trying to form a new government for 174 days. Leterme failed to do so, following a series of struggles between the Frenchspeaking and Flemishspeaking parties of the proposed 'orange-blue' (christians and liberal parties) coalition, over a reform of the constitution regarding more autonomy for the regions.
