Sudanese President Omar al-Beshir (R) receives British Muslim Lord Nazir Ahmed (L), from the upper house of parliament, who is in Khartoum to ask for the release of a British woman teacher jailed for 15 days for insulting religion, 03 December 2007. Beshir announced today that Gillian Gibbons was to be pardonned after she was sentenced last week by a Sudanese court to 15 days in prison for insulting religion by naming a teddy bear after the Prophet Mohammed at the exclusive English school where she taught in Khartoum.
