BRAZIL-UN-CLIMATE-WARMING-AMAZON-FILES
(FILES) This file aerial picture taken 12 April, 1991 shows a deforested area in a former gold mine in Brazil's Amazon rain forest. Deforestation and climate change could wipe out or damage up to 60 percent of the vital Amazon forest by 2030, causing knock on effects across the globe, green group WWF warned 06 December 2007. A WWF report, released at a key UN climate change meeting in Indonesia's Bali, found that by 2030 Amazon deforestation could cause 55.5 billion to 96.9 billion tons of CO2 to be released into the atmosphere.
