RUSSIA-POLITICS-OPPOSITION-JUSTICE
Chess great cum opposition leader Garry Kasparov attends the funeral of 22 year-old opposition supporter Yury Chervochkin outside Moscow in Serpukhov, 13 December 2007. Chervochkin died on his way to last month's "Dissenters March", in what Kasparov called a political murder. In other events, Kasparov has ended his long-shot bid for Russia's presidency, an aide said, saying his challenge had been crushed by Kremlin meddling. Chervochkin, was beaten with a baseball bat on November 22 in the town of Serpukhovo near Moscow, activists from the National Bolshevik group and an official from the local prosecutor's office said. He died from his injuries on December 10. The circumstances of his death "sadly make it seem that law enforcement forces were involved in what happened. I hope we are able to prove that," Eduard Limonov, leader of the National Bolsheviks, told AFP by telephone. AFP PHOTO / KOMMERSANT / ANDREI MAKHONIN RUSSIA OUT GETTY OUT
