TO GO WITH AFP STORY "YEAR-2007-LEBANON"

The situation in Lebanon in 2007 took a bleak turn with tourists turned away by the political and security situation and young professionals leaving in droves for job offers in Gulf countries or elsewhere. The International Monetary Fund and Moody's, as well as Lebanese financial institutions, have added to the pessimism by warning of a further slide in the economy in a country already crushed by a public date of 40.5 billion dollars.
