GERMANY-AFRICA-APP-MERKEL-ANNAN
German Chancellor Angela Merkel (R) and Kofi Annan (3rd L), chairman of the Africa Progress Panel (APP) and former UN Secretary-General, give a joint press statement 18 December 2007 at the Chancellery in Berlin as (L-R) former managing director of the International Monetary Fund Michel Camedessus, Irish musician and Live-Aid-founder Bob Geldof, German Economic Cooperation and Overseas Development Minister Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul, German State Secretary for Economic Affairs Bernd Pfaffenbach, Brittish international envoy for the Middle East Tony Blair and Transparency International founder Peter Eigen look on. Merkel and representatives of the German government met with members of the APP, which aims to focus world leaders’ attention on delivering on their commitments.
