JAPAN-HEALTH-HEPATITIS-POLITICS-COMBO
This combo shows photos of Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda (L) bowing as he apologizes to a group (R) of victims and relatives of people who contracted hepatitis C from tainted blood products, at his office in Tokyo, 25 December 2007. It was announced 23 December that Fukuda and his ruling coalition would seek new legislation to compensate all the victims of dirty blood products contaminated with hepatitis C. At least 10,000 people are estimated to have contracted the potentially fatal disease after being given fibrinogen, which is used to stop bleeding. AFP PHOTO / POOL / Yoshikazu TSUNO
