VENEZUELA-COLOMBIA-FARC-HOSTAGES
A local resident crosses a hanging bridge on the river Paguey, some 30 km from Barinas 25 December, 2007. The promised release of three hostages by Colombian FARC leftist rebels will not take place before Christmas, a Colombian senator and mediator Piedad Cordoba said Monday. The FARC said a week ago they would free Clara Rojas, her son Emmanuel, who was born in captivity from her relationship with a rebel, and lawmaker Consuelo Gonzalez de Perdomo. Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, who is spending the Christmas holiday in his residence in Barinas, plans to address the media Wednesday regarding the delayed release of the hostages.
