VENEZUELA-COLOMBIA-FARC-HOSTAGES

Venezuelan air crew prepare three small passenger jets (two depicted) detached by President Hugo Chavez to transport the members of the international committee of observers in charge of the handover of three hostages held by the FARC guerrillas in Colombia, 29 December, 2007 at the military airport of Santo Domingo, Venezuela. Venezuelan helicopters landed in Colombia Friday for a mission to pick up three hostages being freed by Marxist rebels, amid uncertainty over the handover's location and day. But a spokeswoman of the International Committee of the Red Cross ruled out completing the mission on Friday, saying it would be too dark to travel on into the jungle, while Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez admitted he did not know exactly where the rendezvous would be.
